Our Approach
Our Approach
Our approach focuses on using industry leading technologies along with decades of experience to bring the best possible outcome for our customer's groundwater needs.
We have considerable experience providing a large, multi-disciplinary support team to design well drilling projects, write groundwater monitoring plans, provide on site supervision, conducting aquifer tests, groundwater sampling and data processing, groundwater modeling and final report preparation. Our staff are often is called to represent clients with regulatory agencies.
Our Story
Our Story
Clearwater Geosciences, LLP is a small, privately held, consulting company that was formed by Dr. Thomas R. Wood in 1994 to provide services to support the water supply needs of the Inter-Mountain West. Dr. Wood’s experience as a research hydrogeologist at the Idaho National Laboratory gave him the opportunity to apply state of the art technologies and approaches to solve regional ground water problems. The company’s primary focus is groundwater and wells and to a lesser extent springs and surface water. Clearwater has expertise in ground water exploration, aquifer testing, well design and construction supervision, Nutrient-Pathogen Studies and other ground water issues.
Meet the Team
Clearwater has staff members with specialized experience in geochemistry, ground water modeling, aquifer testing, well design and construction and ground water remediation.
Thomas (Tom) R. Wood, PhD, PG
Founder & CEO
Dr. Thomas (Tom) R. Wood has over 35 years experience is the owner and principal hydrogeologist for Clearwater Geosciences. He has extensive experience in municipal water supply design and analysis, wellhead protection, nutrient-pathogen (NP) studies, geothermal well systems, aquifer testing, basic and applied groundwater research, aquifer characterization, water rights litigation and groundwater protection.
He is a former University of Idaho faculty member having taught groundwater hydrology for twelve years at the Idaho Falls campus. He holds a BS degree in geophysics, a MS degree in geological engineering and a PhD in hydrogeology.
Hai Huang, PhD
Senior Numerical Modeler
Dr. Hai Huang has over 25 years of experiences in developing and applications of groundwater flow and contaminant transport models for various environmental and energy problems, such as groundwater quantity and quality management, geological disposal of toxic and radioactive wastes and recovery of geothermal energy. Dr. Huang has extensive knowledge and expertise of geostatistics, advanced numerical methods and high-performance computing, multiscale multiphysics modeling of coupled subsurface thermal-hydro-mechanical-geochemical (THMC)l processes, molecular modeling of thermodynamics of fluids and water-rock geochemical interactions within porous media. Dr. Huang had developed innovative computational geomechanics and rock thermal/hydraulic fracturing models for various subsurface engineering applications including recovery of unconventional fossil fuels from shales, enhanced geothermal reservoirs and geological repository of nuclear wastes.
Rachel Geringer, PG, MS
Staff Geologist
Rachel Geringer is an Idaho and Wyoming State Registered Professional Geologist that has over 10 years of experience in geology, geophysics, and hydrology. She has a master’s degree in geophysics and specializes in groundwater quality monitoring. Project work includes continued groundwater quality monitoring, writing annual reports for wastewater reuse sites, creating operation plans for wastewater treatment systems, submitting permit applications for wastewater reuse sites, creating and designing groundwater quality monitoring networks, designing and overseeing drilling and installation of groundwater monitoring wells; water supply wells for municipal and industrial applications; overseeing drilling and logging of soil boreholes, creating Nutrient-Pathogen Studies, soil sampling, geologic and groundwater site characterizations, and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
Michael Roddy, MS
